Trays

Trays setup defines the different splice tray models that can be used to populate fiber splice enclosures in the OpenComms data model. Open the Fiber Trays setup dialog by clicking on File > OpenComms Settings > OSP – Fiber > Trays to display the following setup dialog:

Editing a Tray Model

  1. From the Trays setup dialog box, select a tray model for editing.
  2. Edit Model, Manufacturer, and/ or Capacity.
  3. Edit Fits in Splice by adding or removing models.
  4. Click Update to save changes into the spec file.

Creating a Tray Model

  1. In the Trays setup dialog box, add Model, Manufacturer and Capacity.
Note: Capacity determines the amount of splice connections a tray model is built to hold.
  2. In the Fits in Splice window, select Add and choose which splice enclosure models this tray can be associated with for placement in the field.

Note: The list of splice enclosures viewed with the Add command will be a list of splice enclosure models already created in OpenComms. When populating a splice enclosure with trays in the network, a user will see only trays that have been assigned to work with that particular splice enclosure.

  3. Select Add in the lower left corner of the trays dialog to add the new splice tray to the fiber resource file.

Deleting a Tray Model

  1. In the Trays setup dialog box, choose the model you wish to delete.
  2. Select Delete in the lower left corner of the Trays dialog box.
Note: Tray models already in use within the network cannot be deleted. In order to delete a Tray from the Trays dialog, all of that particular model of Tray must be replaced or removed in the existing network before it can be deleted.
